Insurance That Covers Fibromyalgia
Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims For Fibromyalgia
There is only one reason that Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims for Fibromyalgia. Because they can!
If an insurance company can find any kind of a loop hole to get out of paying a claim they will.
Because Fibromyalgia has no Known Cause or cure and the diagnoses is a process of elimination it gives them several loop holes to deny your claim.
First: They will say that you have not been definitively diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Unless your doctor states that you definitively have Fibromyalgia and it seams that many do not want to do that. They might say you "may" have Fibromyalgia. That one word is enough for them to deny your claim.
Second: Because the main symptom of Fibromyalgia is severe muscle and joint pain you only have your word that you are really in pain and they will try to deny your claim on the grounds that there is not enough evidence of your illness.
Third: Because Fibromyalgia is so unpredictable it is hard to give a definite return to work date. Which an insurance company always wants.
Have your doctor put down a date that is as far as possible, if you recover sooner the can always change the date.
If you are filing a claim for Fibromyalgia you need to be very careful how you summit your claim. Your insurance company is going to look for any loop hole that they can find to get out of paying a claim.
Always go over the forms with your doctor to make sure that they are filled out properly and not using words like "may have or might have" your insurance company can try and use this to deny your claim.
Best of luck. Tim LeRoy
